LEOPARDS STRIKE COBRAS FOR DISTRICT WIN

The Van Vleck Leopards baseball team traveled to Industrial this past Friday night for a must win district game…and win – they did…beating the Industrial Cobras 5 – 4….Leading the way on the mound for  the Leps was senior, Kason Klump…Klump gave up 3 hits and 4 runs, only which 2 of the runs were earned. Senior Avery Sieben took over for Klump and pitched 2.2 scoreless innings for the Leps…Sieben did not give up a hit or a walk. With a 5 to 4 lead going into the bottom of the 7th, senior Colton Carrion took the mound to close out the Cobras…Carrion gave up 2 hits and had 1 strike out…to end the night and shore up the victory for the Leopards. Leading the offensive attack for the Leopards was sophomores DJ Vargas (3 hits) and Travis Koliba with 2 hits, Colton Carrion added a 2 RBI double, along with hits from Kameron Wied and a single by Jeremiah Smith and Pruett Schulz… Van Vleck will travel to Palacios on Tuesday for a tough battle with the Sharks, first pitch is at 7pm – in Palacios.
