In regards to the ABC Channel 13 story yesterday, Van Vleck ISD has been receiving reports that Houston news media is reporting that VVISD is on "high alert" as well as other schools in the area -- this is misleading because of the fact that all of these schools on the list sent out a letter indicating that there is increased security measures.
We have taken pro-active measures in response to last week's events at Santa Fe High School regarding increased safety, increased sheriff patrols, and our coordination with other agencies to assist us in this regard.
Secondly, we received word late last night that a student allegedly made a threat toward the school using social media. This information has been reported to Matagorda County Sheriff's Department and they are handling the situation.
