VVHS Environmental Systems students surveyed Matagorda Beach near 3-mile cut as part of the Texas High School Coastal Monitoring Program to gain a better understanding of dune and beach dynamics. Students learned how to measure the topography, map the vegetation line and shoreline, and observe weather and wave conditions. The data collected is published in an annual report through the Bureau of Economic Geology.
