VVISD Looks Toward Our Facilities' Future

Monday, March 27th marks the beginning of some of the most historic work ever done for Van Vleck ISD by community members. Our Board of Trustees has chosen a large group of community members to serve on our Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC). This group of patrons has agreed to serve this school district’s students and staff by helping us prepare to consider a bond referendum in November 2017. It is truly noble work, ranking right behind teaching and learning in importance to our District and our community.

Our community and our school district have old and aging facilities that make teaching and learning a difficult challenge, and we all want our children to keep pace with their peers as they prepare for higher education or career-technology education paths in the current workforce. In addition, we want them to meet the education expectations of parents and community and the competitive education environment in our State and Nation. Our Leopard Pride and our quality commitment to children demand that we take a continuous and serious look at our facilities and programs.

Over the next few months, the FAC will have the opportunity to learn more about public education and education in VVISD than they ever knew before. Along with our experienced professional facilitator, Michelle Hughes, we will take the FAC on a journey of facts and figures and facilities that will result in your deliberating on projects to include in the FAC's proposal of a bond referendum to the Board of Trustees. It will be difficult work fraught with hard decisions, but we are confident that this group of community members will successfully navigate this process and see it to conclusion.
