The Texas DSHS is currently determining if screening rules will be in effect this year due to the extra challenges to schools posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.  They will notify stakeholders as soon as a decision is reached.

In the mean time,  Compliance with Texas Health and Safety Code requirements for vision, hearing, and spinal screenings is required for the 2020-2021 school year. VVISD is referring to this best practices document for guidance on safely screening children this school year.

Health Screenings will begin this week!

Pre-K - 1st Grade screens will be conducted on this Thursday, October 1st.

3rd, 5th, and 7th grade screens will be conducted over the course of the next few weeks due to the amount of students and what that entails regarding social distancing and sanitizing between every student.

Students who are new to the District in grades other than Pre-K, K, 1, 3, 5, & 7 will also be screened over the course of the next few weeks.

Only girls in 5th & 7th grades and boys in 8th grade will be screened for spinal abnormalities.

Virtual Learning student health screenings will be conducted towards the end of the month and by appointment only.
