Thanksgiving Holidays & Message

Dear LeopardNation:

I wanted to take a moment to wish each and every one of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Time passes by so quickly, and this season is a reminder to reflect and think of ways we can use our talents to give back to someone in need.

I personally am very thankful for all of the support from my family, our community, parents, trustees, staff and students. I am very proud of VVISD, and I am blessed each day to have the opportunity to serve our children and community.

I also want to say “Thank you” to all of the staff and community members that have served, or that are currently serving in the military; for without you, we would not have our freedoms.

Finally, VVISD is much more than a school district, it is a community. Our school district is the heart of the LeopardNation! So whether you are sharing time with your immediate or extended family, please take time to rest, enjoy the beauty that surrounds us, and remember to be thankful for all that you have. As Elbert Hubbard stated, “I would rather be able to appreciate things I cannot have than to have things I am not able to appreciate.”

I hope everyone has a truly blessed Thanksgiving. Please remember our schools will be closed the week of November 22, 2021, and classes will resume on Monday, November 29, 2021 at regular times.

Kindest Regards,

John R. O’Brien

VVISD Superintendent of Schools
